75 percent of African-Americans in the country live in only 16 percent of the Census Block Groups in the United States. Remapping Debate has put together interactive maps that can zoom down to the Census Block Group level anywhere in the United States, revealing just how segregated the US is.

Also, um, this is fucking crazy. But god do I fucking love what GIS mapping can do.

To play the role of devil’s advocate: could one make the argument that people generally enjoy living in their own ethnic communities to explain this phenomena?

I don’t see why you couldn’t make that argument…It would seem to hold true if you look around enough…
Also, I agree that GIS mapping kicks ass.
